Grease actress Olivia Newton John recently announced that after beating breast cancer more than twenty years ago, her cancer has returned and this time it has spread to her back. Her 31 year-old daughter Chloe Lattanzi, who is a cannabis grower living in Oregon  posted on social media that her mother was going to be using CBD oil as part of her treatment.

Olivia Newton John first beat breast cancer back in 1992 after using chemotherapy and having a partial mastectomy. Now, her cancer has returned and she is trying a new approach. Newton John stated in a press release, “I decided on my direction of therapies after consultation with my doctors and natural therapists and the medical team at my Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia.”

Her daughter Lattanzi posted on Instagram, “She will be using medicine that I often talk about. CBD oil! and other natural healing remedies plus modern medicine to beat this.” CBD or cannabidiol has been proven to slow the growth of malignant cancer cells, and in some cases eradicate them entirely. According to Massroots, Olivia Newton John will also be using photon radiation therapy, a newer type of therapy that doesn’t release as much radiation and thus has fewer side effects.

If Ms. Newton John is successful in her treatment this will go a long way in removing the stigma of using medicinal cannabis. The DEA chief just said that he didn’t believe that cannabis is medicine. Successfully treating breast cancer while using CBD could finally show nay-sayers that yes, it is. We wish Olivia Newton John all the best in her recovery.
