I experienced a coupe of buddies fly in from Toronto for a long weekend and they definitely needed to examine out some of this salt water fishing I’ve been talking about. They were landing Friday night, so following perform I zipped over to the Alafia and solid netted some mullet, chopped them up and place them on ice. I then went straight to the airport, picked up my friends, stopped by a local brewery for a beer and some cigars, and drove down to St. Pete beach front in advance of even dropping the baggage at my position…
It was just following sunset, we set up my two shark rods and I kayaked the mullet chunks out to about 100 yards off the beach front. Inside thirty minutes, we experienced a run and, lo and behold, we experienced a strong hookup on the to start with consider. The guys were so pumped, getting turns reeling in this large fish (significantly even larger than our bass/pike/walleye up north, lol).
Inside 15 minutes, he was beached and we pulled out the hook with relieve. Immediately after a handful of swift pics, he swam off robust and the boys were pumped! We experienced a break off and a couple dropped baits following that to start with a single but we failed to land anything at all else. No matter, wonderful way for them to devote their to start with handful of several hours in Florida!
Below are some pics underneath. I am however working on my shark IDs, but I believe it truly is a sandbar? Perhaps a dusky? Seemed like a male on account of the claspers. Arrived in a couple inches shy of five-feet.
